News from the Health Center
Pseudoephedrine-containing products face sale restrictions:Due
to a new federal law to reduce methamphetamine production there will be
restrictions in over the counter sales of pseudoephedrine-containing
products such as Sudafed and many other products used for nasal
congestion from the common cold or nasal allergies.
Pseudoephedrine-containing products are sometimes diverted to make
methamphetamine. Due to the new law, customers wishing to purchase
these products will be asked to provide a state-issued photo ID, sign a
log and face limits of how much product is purchased.
Here at
the Student Health Center we will no longer be carrying over the
counter products containing pseudoephedrine. We are planning to offer
an alternative similar medication, phenylephrine, which is similar to
pseudoephedrine but is not used to make methamphetamine. There may be
additional treatment options to improve your symptoms. Thank you for
your understanding with this change. For additional information please
refer to the web page listed below.
