Clinical Services - Primary Care
Primary care spans a wide scope of practice including treatment of illnesses and injuries, minor surgical procedures, and preventive health counseling and care. Our clinicians include physicians, nurse practitioners and physicians assistance. (see Our Staff).They will evaluate, treat, counsel and follow your conditions as needed. Referrals to specialists are made if indicated.
Women's Health Care
Clinicians provide routine annual gynecological exams and pap smears, breast exams, contraceptive information, and prescriptions. Pregnancy testing, pregnancy-related referrals, emergency contraception, and sexually transmitted infection testing are also available.
Men's Health Care
Clinical care and health education specific to male issues is available. Clinical services include urinary/genital exams, sexually transmitted infection testing, testicular exams, prostate exams and instruction in testicular self-exam (TSE). Male physicians are on staff and can be requested if desired.
Immunizations
A variety of immunizations are offered at the Student Health Center. These include:
- Hepatitis A – a series of 2 vaccinations
- Hepatitis B – a series of 3 vaccinations (Required Immunizations if 18 or younger at admission)
- Human Papillomavirus – a series of 3 vaccinations
- Influenza (offered Fall through early Winter)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) (Required Immunizations)
- Meningococcal
- Pertussis
- Pneumococcal
- Tetanus
There is a nominal charge for all vaccines ranging from $12.00-$125.00 each.
Our current immunization hours are:
- Monday and Tuesday: 8:30am - 11:15am and 1:00pm - 4:15pm
- Wednesday: 9:30am - 11:15am and 1:00pm - 4:15pm
- Thursday and Friday: 8:30am - 11:15am and 1:00pm - 4:15pm
HIV Testing
FREE and ANONYMOUS HIV testing is available at the Health Services Agency (Public Health Department) on 820 Scenic Drive Modesto, CA (209) 558-7837.
Their hours are:
Monday: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Tuesday: 9:00am - 11:00am
Wednesday: 9:00am - 11:00am
Thursday: 4:30pm - 6:00pm
These clinics operate on a walk-in basis
CONFIDENTIAL HIV TESTING is also available daily at the Health Center. An appointment with a clinical provider must be made. There is a fee of $9.00.
Tuberculosis (PPD) Testing
If you are currently enrolled at CSUS come by the Health Center for a free TB skin test. No appointment is necessary.

Students MUST return at least 48 hours and not later than 72 hours after the test is placed for reading, to avoid having to repeat the test.
